PHILIPPE ARLAUD Artistic director, stage director, stage designer, lighting designer Philippe Arlaud has been working successfully since 1982 as a director, project creator, stage designer and lighting designer at numerous famous theatres and opera houses in Europe, Asia and the USA. He has twice been awarded the "Josef Kainz Medal" of the city of Vienna (the highest artistic honour in Austria). Philippe Arlaud studied directing, stage design and history of art at the Ecole Supérieure d’Art Dramatique du Théâtre national de Strasbourg. His stage production style typically seeks to marry the demands of musical and spoken theatre. Another special characteristic of his work is a form of stage design which draws on the language and techniques of the cinema. By creating a universe of picturesque, colourful and vivid visualisation, Philippe Arlaud takes the audience with him into an architectural, exhilarating, agile, radiant and, at the same time, musical world!
